We entered the Denny's and was promptly seated which was a good start, after that things didn't go quite the way they should have. Now I will state that the restaurant was about 1/3 full but not overwhelming for the staff. We got our coffee which smelled like it was burnt or at the very least over brewed. After finally taking our order, the fun began, or should I say ordeal? We ordered breakfast at around 11:30 am, but Denny's advertises breakfast 24 hours so we shouldn't have had any problems. We finished our coffees, only to sit for what seemed like an eternity until we got a refill. Unfortunately this was about 22 minutes into the wait for our food which still hasn't been served.
Then we get to hear the bickering among the staff about who was going to serve table 17 coffee, and it looked as if that might not happen. I did see a waiter go toward the table mentioned but only with silverware and place mats in hand. I think after some more time had expired they finally got coffee of course this coincided with us getting a refill. Since the tables weren't marked I now wonder if we could have been table 17.
Finally we get our order only to find I had to wait for the toast to be served a tad later. I was always taught that an order should be served completely without any separate delay for side items. This was apparently the case during our entire time at Denny's with staff constantly saying "sorry for the delay". Now my order had potatoes in it which by the way were half-cooked and the plating didn't look anything like the picture on the menu as to the point of the plate only being 3/4 full. I was not impressed.
Then the piece de resistance was waiting to pay my bill only to once again hear as three staff walk past "sorry we'll be right with you". Needless to say this didn't help make my opinion of Denny's service any better. Now I will state that I patronized this establishment about 30 days prior and had a totally enjoyable experience there that day. The only thing that has changed is apparently staff, which by my standards needs to be retrained as to how to serve customers properly.
Any other input good or bad is appreciated and always welcome.
Sincerely,
Mr. Jordan,
