Homestyle Kitchen (Dundalk): June 24, 6:30pm

Another great eating establishment in the heart of Dundalk.  Homestyle Kitchen is one of the best restaurants to come along in quite a while.

My partner and I decided to dine here the other day and were drawn in by the aroma wafting from their exhaust fans. After perusing the menu, (which by the way has a variety of choices) I decided on the Char-Grilled Chicken Breast which came with a choice of two sides and a corn muffin.  First of all the chicken was a good portion cooked well flavorful and wasn't tough at all. The loaded mashed potatoes (real potatoes not instant) was fabulous as it was covered with cheese and lots of bacon mixed in. The greens beans where crispy and done just right, not soggy like most you get these days. Now the corn muffin was insanely delicious, soft like a cupcake, sweet and warm. I hope they decide to sell these muffins to go by the dozen in the near future (hint hint).

My partner had the Homestyle Chicken Sandwich (grilled), which comes with a pickle, and a side and a drink when buying the combo. The lettuce and tomato on the (toasted!) bun were crisp and flavorful, and the lettuce was not the typical iceberg lettuce you find on burgers and other sandwiches. It comes with mayo on both buns, but not so much that you feel like you're drowning in it. Chicken was well-done and tender, as well as flavorful and juicy. The pickle looked like it had seen better days but it was crisp and tasted good despite its appearance. She also had the Loaded Mashed Potato, but there were plenty of other sides that looked appetizing.

Despite the over whelming demand for carry out our order was prepared within a reasonable time about 7 minutes top. So if you're into trying a new dining experience I recommend this establishment in the old Dundalk shopping center.

Their address is 81 Shipping Place, and they are open 11 am to 10 pm Monday to Sunday. For delivery call 410-284- 4663.
